Glory, honor, peace …
Romans 2:5-11 NLT
But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
He will judge everyone according to what they have done.
He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.
But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.
There will be trouble and calamity for everyone who keeps on doing what is evil-for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
But there will be glory and honor and peace from God for all who do good-for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
For God does not show favoritism.
For all who do good, there will be glory and honor and peace from God.
Again here in these verses we see that those who refuse to repent of their sins are storing up judgment for themselves, just as those who refuse to worship God and find their identity in Him. God will judge according to what each one has done.
In verses 7-10 we have a wonderful contrasting between …
- Those who do good seeking after all that God offers.
- They will have eternal life.
- They will experience the glory, honor, and peace of God.
- Those who live for themselves and refuse to obey the truth.
- They will experience God’s anger and wrath.
- They will have trouble and calamity.
The New Covenant in Jesus Christ operates in this way and now there is no difference between Jew and Gentile. This New Covenant is all about hearts and lives that belong to God desiring to acknowledge Him, worship and honor Him, and do good things out of gratitude for His great kindness and patience.
Let’s give thanks for all that He has done for us in Jesus Christ.
