Reflecting on God’s Word …

Psalm 61:1-4 NLT
[1] O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer!

[2] From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety,

[3] for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me.

[4] Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!

Reflection

These first few verses of Psalm 61 are wonderful for us to pray! Crying out to the Lord is part of living an authentic life before God. It demonstrates our real need for Him and our deep dependence on Him.

The Lord is our refuge and shield and when we call out, cry out to Him we can find safety and refuge.

Who really is our enemy? Our enemy is Satan himself and his demons. He uses any means possible to distract us, tempt us, confuse us and keep us from accomplishing God’s purposes in reaching the world for Him.

Where is the Lord’s sanctuary? It is within us because He dwells within us and is with us always. Sometimes we drift away and need to cry out for help and strength. Let’s ask the Lord to prepare us.
