Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Mark 8:27-29 NLT
[27] Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages near Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”

[28] “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets.”

[29] Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.

Reflection . . .

Now that’s the question, isn’t it?!!

Who do you say Jesus is?

Many people have their own opinions and perspectives on who Jesus is. Many are totally ridiculous! Many are very partly right! Many hope to be correct! Many don’t really care, and many have so much to learn!

The only way we can truly say, “Jesus is the Messiah!” is by having encountered him personally. Every encounter with Jesus is different, but an encounter nonetheless! Every encounter brings us into some kind of real relationship with him. If we pursue that relationship and get to know him, we can affirm the claims he makes to be the Messiah, the chosen one of God to bring humanity back to God, and save us from our sin.
