Into Practice . . .

Then you will understand . . .

Proverbs 2:1-5 NLT

[1] My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.

[2] Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.

[3] Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.

[4] Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.

[5] Then you will understand what it means to fear the LORD, and you will gain knowledge of God.

Reflection . . .

Everyone wants the most up to date information, the facts, all the options to make the best choice for themselves. The question we need to be asking ourselves is,

“Am I searching for wisdom and understanding to make the right choice in my honouring the Lord?”

It’s not an easy question and it will likely involve things we are not wanting to understand. It will be difficult and human nature is to avoid what is difficult and take the easiest path to a desired end.

If we treasure (desire) the Lord’s commands, then we will desire wisdom and understanding. What’s the key?

We have to ask and search for it! Ask the Lord for wisdom and understanding, and then search for it at every turn!
