Fear Not . . .
Psalm 23:1-6 NLT
The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.
Reflection . . .
Throughout Scripture we hear the phrase “Do not be afraid!” “Do not Fear!” over and over. So often it when people are hearing from the Lord what they are to do.
Luke 12:29-32 NLT
“And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.”
Even here in this passage, Jesus is telling us not to be afraid about the everyday things of life, food and drink. The key? Seek first the Kingdom of God — Seek the Lord! He will give us everything we need. Then we can say, “I will not fear walking through the darkest valley, the most difficult of experiences!” God’s got our backs, and Jesus is leading us. He is with us!
