Acknowledgement, denial . . .
Luke 12:8-10 ESV
“And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God,
but the one who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Reflection . . .
What does it mean to blaspheme the Holy Spirit?
Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a deliberate and ongoing rejection of the Holy Spirit’s work and of God himself. “People who have committed this sin are far from God and deny having any sin at all; thus, they don’t believe they need his forgiveness.”1
It’s reassuring to know that Christ has our back. He is for us in life and death! No matter what, He’s got us covered!
Let’s pray this prayer in gratitude for what the Lord has done for us:
LORD, thank you for answering me and helping me in my distress. Thank you for being for me! That truth is amazing to me and assures me of your concern for me. Help me to resolve not to be afraid because the Lord of the universe is on my side!2
