Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Christ, our Cornerstone

Psalm 118:19-24 NLT

[19] Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the LORD.

[20] These gates lead to the presence of the LORD, and the godly enter there.

[21] I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!

[22] The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.

[23] This is the LORD’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.

[24] This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Reflection . . .

We can sing with the Psalmist, “I will go and thank the Lord” because Jesus is the Cornerstone that we rest on, depend on and place our complete trust in to come into the presence of God. We give thanks because He is our victory!

Giving thanks to the Lord is life changing! We can show our gratitude through our words or our actions. We give praise and thanks with our lips and by how we choose to live our lives.

  • Will we go to Church (the house of the Lord) to give thanks with others in the congregation?
  • Will we choose to see the wonders and goodness of the Lord through Jesus Christ?
  • Will we rejoice and be glad today because of what the Lord has done?

Prayer offers us a way out of our fear. It is all a matter of calling upon Jesus’ name. Only in his name is there help. The more we call upon his name, the more we will experience this truth.
