We boast in … the Lord
Psalm 20:1-3,7 NLT
In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm.
May he send you help from his sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem.
May he remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings.
Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the LORD our God.
During these times of war, pandemic uncertainty, economic confusion, and global concerns …
What are we boasting about?
Are we bragging about how lucky we are to be living in the country we do, more well off than so many others, or focused on the difficulties and negative thinking that is so rampant and damaging?
Or, are we talking about what God is doing, and what God has done for us? The psalmist petitions the Lord’s favor on his people paying attention to the Lord’s great ability and greatness. He boasts in the name of the Lord!
Let’s take the example here and focus more on boasting in all that the Lord has done and is doing. He will show us favor because we are His and He desires for us to be a blessing to the nations.
