Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

By faith, not by sight . . .

2 Corinthians 5:6-10 NLT

[6] So we are always confident, even though we know that as long as we live in these bodies we are not at home with the Lord.

[7] For we live by believing and not by seeing.

[8] Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.

[9] So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.

[10] For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.

Reflection . . .

Live by faith, not by sight! It’s sounds easy, but most of the time it’s very hard to live by faith and not by sight. What we see, we know is right there — it is what it is! Or, at least that’s how we tend to live.

Living by sight leaves us to our own devices, our own judgement to take the next steps in life. We see how things are and make our decisions based on what we see, what we know is before us.

Living by faith (or by believing) requires that we depend upon God, wait on Him to show us the next steps we are to take. We put our trust in the things we cannot see (God’s purposes for us) and take the next steps based on what we don’t see, and what fits best with His purposes for us in loving and serving Him and others!

“Seeing is believing,” but I say to you, “Believing is seeing!”
