Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Treasury of the heart . . .

Luke 6:43-45 NLT

[43] “A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.

[44] A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes.

[45] A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.

Reflection . . .

This imagery is not hard to understand. We all like good fruit! We all know that good things produce more good things. What’s in our hearts is important stuff! Those who love football, talk almost exclusively about football. Those who love politics turn every conversation into some political concern. Those who love their pets find every opportunity to focus on their favourite creatures. We talk and focus on what we love; we speak out of the treasury of our hearts.

If we love God, everything is focused on Him and His purposes.

Let’s develop the treasury of our hearts to love God . . .

Sing His Praise! Treasure God’s Word! Pray!

Will you not prize and love Him who has done so much for you?
