My Strength & Fortress

Psalm 27:1-3 NLT

[1] The LORD is my light and my salvation- so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

[2] When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.

[3] Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.

Fear is a powerful thing. It can push its way into so many areas of our lives. We all know someone who fears death or illness, pain and suffering, defeat, accidents, or failure. In fact, you may have some of those— and perhaps many others—on your own list of things you fear. Fear can undermine our faith, paralyze our progress, and blur the vision we have received from God. Fear is capable of robbing us of joy and peace.*

Only he who can say, “The Lord is the strength of my life,” can say, “Of whom shall I be afraid?”
