Reflecting of God’s Word . . .

Those who wait patiently

Psalm 37:7-9 NLT

[7] Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

[8] Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm.

[9] For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the LORD will possess the land.

Reflection . . .

Being still, waiting patiently and trusting are hard things for us to do well. In fact, for most of us it’s almost impossible to get away from the cacophony of noise around us, wait for more than a few moments before rushing off to some other thing, or place our complete trust in anything or anyone! Impossible?

These verses would not exist if it were not possible to do, and with the Lord’s help we can certainly be more than conquerers.

Plan to take some significant time to just pause and be still in the presence of the Lord, wait on Him and place your complete trust in Him. It may feel awkward and very uncomfortable at first, but unless you actually take the time and purpose to BE STILL it won’t happen. We have to choose it! Once you become more comfortable with this activity, you will crave the silence and stillness, and peace that you experience in God’s presence. Perhaps start with a few verses of a Psalm and allow them to sink deep into your heart and mind.
