Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

God declares end . . .

Romans 8:1-4 NLT

[1] So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

[2] And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

[3] The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

[4] He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.

Reflection . . .

Romans chapter 8 is a fantastic one! Here we have a summary of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. We are not condemned because we belong to Him!

In Jesus Christ, God declared an end to sin being able to control us. He did that by giving Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for our sin. The problem with humanity is sin! Sin requires the shedding of blood to atone for the wrong done. Jesus gave His life as an atoning sacrifice for us, for our sin. Now we can live by the Spirit instead of following the sinful nature that had control of us before placing our faith in Him.

We only need to rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us. As we read and meditate on God’s Word God’s Spirit will help us in every aspect of life.

Holy Spirit, think through me until your ideas become my ideas.
