Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

God to be feared . . .

Psalm 115:12-18 NLT

[12] The LORD remembers us and will bless us. He will bless the people of Israel and bless the priests, the descendants of Aaron.

[13] He will bless those who fear the LORD, both great and lowly.

[14] May the LORD richly bless both you and your children.

[15] May you be blessed by the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

[16] The heavens belong to the LORD, but he has given the earth to all humanity.

[17] The dead cannot sing praises to the LORD, for they have gone into the silence of the grave.

[18] But we can praise the LORD both now and forever! Praise the LORD!

Reflection . . .

God is Awesome! God is Holy! He remembers us!

What does it mean that the Lord “Remembers us”? This phrase is connected to our fear of the Lord — our sense of reverence, honour for Him, and our relationship to God. Thus, for God to remember us means that just as we are in relationship with one another and in regular communication, we remember one another. So, God remembers us as we maintain relationship with Him and commune with Him — He blesses us, and we receive all the good things He desires for us.

The fact that the Lord remembers us and desires to bless us is great reason for us to give praise to Him!

God puts his ear so closely down to your lips that he can hear your faintest whisper. It is not God away off up yonder; it is God away down here, close up—so close up that when you pray to him, it is more a whisper than a kiss.
