Worthy of Great Praise . . .
Psalm 148:1-6,13-14 NLT
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens! Praise him from the skies!
Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all the armies of heaven!
Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you twinkling stars!
Praise him, skies above! Praise him, vapors high above the clouds!
Let every created thing give praise to the LORD, for he issued his command, and they came into being.
He set them in place forever and ever. His decree will never be revoked.
Let them all praise the name of the LORD. For his name is very great; his glory towers over the earth and heaven!
He has made his people strong, honoring his faithful ones— the people of Israel who are close to him. Praise the LORD!
Reflection . . .
He is worthy! He is worthy of great praise!
All creation is to give praise to give praise to the Lord because He is worthy, He is mighty!
In the days and weeks that follow Christmas, we must keep our focus on Christ’s coming in the flesh and dwelling among us. Let’s not go with the flow of our culture and forget about Jesus. The incarnation of Jesus Christ is the ultimate display of power and might. It was not strong and loud like a thunderstorm or a display of warrior power in battle like we might imagine. It was a quiet display of the impossible — God making His dwelling among us, as one of us! A demonstration not just of impossible ability, but of humility and deep desire to be with us — Emmanuel, God with us!
Let’s take several moments to reflect and meditate on God’s greatness to be able to do such an impossible thing. He has made His dwelling among us and we have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son of God.
