Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Psalm 25:1-5 NLT

[1] O LORD, I give my life to you.

[2] I trust in you, my God! Do not let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.

[3] No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.

[4] Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.

[5] Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.

Reflection . . .

Today officially begins the Advent Season, a season before Christmas where we focus on the coming of Jesus Christ. We focus not only on His coming as a baby, his first “advent” to earth, but we also focus on his second “advent” to earth, His second coming. As we progress through the days prior to Christmas we will focus on different aspects of Christ and his coming to us.

In this Psalm, we focus on asking the Lord to show us the right path, lead us in His truth. What a better way to start the Advent Season!

Pray this prayer as we begin our journey:

DEAR LORD, I want to know your will. I’m willing to do your will, and I’ll wait, in hope, for your truth to lead me in it. No matter what storms of life I may face, I will keep my eyes on the brightness of your Son—the radiance of your glory!1

God is the light in my darkness, the voice in my silence.
