Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

1 John 2:15-17 NLT

[15] Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.

[16] For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

[17] And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Reflection . . .

Doing what pleases God is key to living life to the fullest and life eternal. So, what pleases God?

What pleases God is . . .

. . . to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8b NLT

Some might think that appeasing God is what we need to be doing, being religious, but pleasing God is about making Him happy, satisfied in us and take pleasure in us. Of course, God takes ultimate pleasure in the gift of His Son Jesus Christ who is alive and at work in us as believers and followers of Him. He also takes great pleasure in us becoming more like Christ, walking humbly with Him, and doing what is right, and merciful.
