Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Romans 12:17-21 NLT

[17]] Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.

[18] Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

[19] Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.

[20] Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.”

[21] Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.

Reflection . . .

Living at peace with others seems like an easy concept for us to do, but it can be incredibly difficult. People have different perspectives and opinions, beliefs and priorities.

When someone offends us or does something that we feel is a violation towards us, we get all worked up and want to get revenge or show them up.

This passage is more than an admonition, it’s a command:

Do all you can to live in peace with everyone!

The only way we can live in peace with everyone is if we are first of all at peace with God through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. Then, God ‘s peace can rule in our hearts, and that peace that is above all understanding, can guard our hearts and minds (Phil 4:7).
