Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

1 Peter 2:1-5 NLT

[1] So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.

[2] Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,

[3] now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.

[4] You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor.

[5] And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

Reflection . . .

Verse 2 and 5 are great comparisons for us to take to heart.

Crave pure spiritual milk!

The idea is of that of a baby craving milk to satisfy its hunger! We are to crave spiritual nourishment in that same way! We are to cry out for that kind of spiritual nourishment!

We are living stones being built into a spiritual temple!

It’s the idea that we make up the stuff that His temple is made of. We are the temple of the Lord! Not only are we the Lord’s temple but we are his holy priests. That means we are the one who serve the Lord doing His work and our spiritual sacrifices are to offer our very lives in His service. Wow! What an honour!

  • Crave spiritual nourishment!
  • Serve the Lord with all our lives!

Christians often ask what the Lord’s will is for their lives. If we can focus on these 2 things the Lord desires for us, it will become clear what it is He desires us to do each day! Grow in the Lord and serve Him!
