Reflecting on God’s Word …

Hebrews 6:1 NLT

So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God.

We all expect others to act in a manner that shows maturity and understanding. When it comes to our own behaviour, we give ourselves all kinds of grace and excuses for acting the way we do, especially when it is questionable. Not only does this verse tell us the importance of being mature, but that our actions indicate whether we’ve actually learned the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds. Placing our faith in God is the only alternative for a maturing Christian. That means, our daily walk with the Lord is one of continual repentance. In fact, if we have been baptized, we have publicly given testimony to a commitment to the Lord that we will live a baptized life, a repentant life. We live by Faith!
