Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Jeremiah 1:4-10 NLT

The LORD gave me this message:

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

“O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”

The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!”

Then the LORD reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”

Reflection . . .

God called Jeremiah to serve Him as His prophet to the nations. Wow! What a calling?! It’s most likely not a calling most of us would want. It was not an easy calling. Jeremiah was hesitant to accept because he thought he was too young. He thought he wasn’t able or gifted to speak for the Lord.

God is calling you to share His message with the world around you too!

Are you willing to go wherever He wants you to go to share the Good News of Salvation to those who need it? It’s never easy! It’s often very hard. But the Lord’s words are as true for us as they were for Jeremiah:

“… Don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you.”

The Lord is with us and not only will He protect us and give us the words to say, He will give us all the ability we need to accomplish His will and fill us with His joy and peace!
