Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

1 Peter 2:21-25 NLT

[21] For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

[22] He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.

[23] He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

[24] He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.

[25] Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

Reflection . . .

This list of characteristics of Jesus are for us to reflect on.

Jesus . . .

  • Sinless
  • Deception-less
  • Non-Retaliating
  • Non-Threatening
  • Non-Judgmental
  • Sin-Bearing
  • Wound-Bearer
  • Guardian

Any one of these characteristics could be a complete study in itself. Review that list and meditate on it letting it sink into your thinking and into your heart. That’s how Jesus is! We are to be like Him!

We are called to do good! It may mean suffering. It will most likely mean suffering to some degree. Jesus is our example and we are to do good, make plans to do good, and DO Good! We must follow in his steps because he is our example of how to live.

Through whatever circumstance, He is with us because He is our Shepherd, our Guardian, and He will guide us and keep us safe for His purposes!
