Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Psalm 40:1-3 NLT
[1] I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.

[2] He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.

[3] He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.

Reflection . . .

Is God slow in responding to our cries for help? Is He slow in hearing our prayers? Is He slow in acting and doing amazing things?

He is not slow! He is patient!

He desires that we patiently wait on Him.

  • In waiting patiently, we are able to focus on what is really necessary and what is just a fleeting feeling or thinking.
  • In waiting patiently, our focus turns from ourselves to Him and we begin to see what is important, what is of greatest value!
  • In waiting patiently, we are able to receive His help and respond in joyful praise and worship, we are able to see where He is doing amazing things, rescuing us from the trouble and difficulty we face.
  • In waiting patiently, the wellspring of joy springs up in our souls, finding satisfaction in Him alone.
