Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Matthew 7:7-11 NLT

[7] “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

[8] For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

[9] “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead?

[10] Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!

[11] So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Reflection . . .

Verse 7, a famous verse to consider.

Ask, Seek, Knock . . .

Ask the Lord for what you need, put before Him even those things you want, everything! Sometimes even those things we want are in line with what He desires for us. Not always and there will be disappointments, but let’s just ask and find out! The key here to receiving what we ask for is that their purpose is for our blessing and benefit and that of others, not selfish gain or desires.

Seek the Lord, seek the truth, seek His favour in all things! You will find the truth in Jesus Christ because He is the way, the truth, and the life . . . (John 14:6)

Knock on the doors you encounter. If you don’t try, you won’t know. We are very familiar with this imagery in life. Many doors go nowhere we need to go or they go places that end up back in the same place. So, go through doors, always keeping in mind that we are asking the Lord’s help in all things, seeking the truth in Jesus Christ and finding the opportunities that lead us to what He desires for us.
