Reflecting on God’s Word …

Psalm 23:1-6 NLT
[1] The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need.

[2] He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.

[3] He renews my strength.

He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.

[4] Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

[5] You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

[6] Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.

He guides me along right paths . . .

Verse 3 is a key verse in this Psalm. It helps us understand that all the Lord does for us is to help us walk well in the right way. The Lord Shepherds us providing all we need, He lead feeds us, gives us enough to drink, renews our strength, and guides us. He does all these things so that we can walk in ways that will honour His name.

So much of what goes on in the world around us goes against these very things that the Lord wants to do for us. He wants to Shepherd us and guide us in right paths, however, we often listen to the voices and guidance of the world around us instead of the Lord.

How can we allow the Lord to lead and guide us?

By listening to His Word, and obeying its instruction.
