Reflecting on God’s Word …

Mark 6:30-31 NLT
[30] The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. [31] Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.

Ministry is demanding. It can be extremely exhausting. At times it can be overwhelming and even debilitating if we don’t take the time to rest a while. How necessary it was for Jesus and his disciples to take time out to rest and rejuvenate from all the ministry they were involved in.

Right after theses verses we read about Jesus feeding the five thousand. Great ministry can only be sustained when we are rested and in tune with God. We need to take time out, if we don’t, we’ll be great targets for failure and disappointments.

Take a hard look at your need for rest and make the necessary adjustments to have time away from the busyness that can rob your hoy and effectiveness.
