Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Revelation 21:22-27 NLT
I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light. The nations will walk in its light, and the kings of the world will enter the city in all their glory. Its gates will never be closed at the end of day because there is no night there. And all the nations will bring their glory and honor into the city. Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Reflection . . .

The Apostle John wrote these words, his vision from the Lord about heaven. What an amazing vision it was! The statements, “The Lamb is its light”, and “There is no night there” are statements well known and used in many funerals and messages for casting hope for the future.

Two other amazing statements are . . .

“And all the nations will bring their glory and honour into the city!”

“Nothing evil will be allowed to enter!”

These two statements are just as hopeful and amazing for us. They help us understand that all nations will be represented and bring glory and honour into that heavenly city – glory and honour that belongs to God! Also, that evil will not be permitted in that place. Looking forward to a heavenly home where only God’s people giving glory and honour to Him is permitted — Now that’s real hope and great comfort!

We get comfortable with the sin in this world, and at times it is very disturbing, but let’s become so discontented with this life that our hope and vision for the next is evident in all we do and say!
