Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Psalm 130:1-8 NLT

[1] From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help.

[2] Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.

[3] LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?

[4] But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.

[5] I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.

[6] I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

[7] O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.

[8] He himself will redeem Israel from every kind of sin.

Reflection . . .

How is your longing for the Lord?

Do we wait for the Lord, longing, anticipating, listening for what He has to say to us? Are we ever seeking His will and instruction? Are we crying out to the Lord for help when we are in need? Are we asking for forgiveness that we might learn to honour and revere the Lord?

Verse 5 is the “How”. It’s the hope!

Counting on the Lord is what we are to do and be confident that our hope is in Him. We are to put our hope in His Word. Longing for the Lord comes as we put hope in His Word, so let’s get into His Word and let is create hope and dependance on Him!
