Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Mark 4:21-25 NLT
Then Jesus asked them, “Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed? Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine. For everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open, and every secret will be brought to light. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” Then he added, “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given— and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.”

Reflection . . .

Let your light shine!

Everything will be brought into the light because Jesus is the Light!

If we pay close attention to Jesus’ teaching and understand it then we’ll be given even more understanding. Paying close attention involves hearing, listening, comprehension, and participation in it on a practical level so that it changes our lives, not just something that is in our minds.

We probably know people who seem to know a lot, have a lot of understanding about many things, but somehow their understanding is very limited because they haven’t put it into practice, they don’t have a real life experience of it. Others, though they may not be able to speak with big and beautiful words have a deep understanding of their experience with Jesus because they’ve heard, listened well, understood the faith and sacrifice His teachings involve and have let it change their lives by putting into practice! Wow! I want to be one of those people!!
