Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

John 15:18-20 NLT
“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you. Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to me, they would listen to you.

Reflection . . .

We are no longer part of the world.

We belong to the Lord!

The world is likely going to hate us because we belong to the Lord. One thing that pops out in this short passage in the final verse is that we listen to the Lord and respond. That is not only something we do once when we first believe and give ourselves to the Lord, it’s an ongoing thing.

How are you listening? What is the Lord saying to you? Where is he asking you to go or what is he asking you to do?

The Lord Jesus is our master if we have given our lives to him and we need to be ever listening to to his voice, meditating on His Word. How is that going? Are you so preoccupied with everything around you and doing your own thing that you have neglected to take the time to really listen? Pause and take the time today to hear his voice.
