Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

John 8:31-32 NLT

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Reflection . . .

Jesus’ true disciples are those who remain faithful to his teachings.

These verses help us understand that discipleship really is a process of living daily in relationship with Jesus, applying his teacings to our lives on a regular basis. It is one thing to believe in God, believe in Jesus and agree with his teachings, but it is totally another thing to be a disciple. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means learning what he desires of us and growing in faith by practicing those truths.

How do we do that?

Well, it starts by taking the time to get into God’s Word, reflect on it and put those truths into practice.

Ask yourself:

  1. What have I just learned from reading God’s Word?
  2. What does it say to me personally?
  3. What can I do about that today?

May the truth of God’s Word be seen in all I do!
