Proverbs 13:24 NLT
Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children.
Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.
Reflection . . .
We’ve likely all heard the expression:
Spare the rod, spoil the child!
We’ve likely all seen examples of people who have neglected any kind of discipline of their children and little monters that result. This is a very touchy subject to consider especially in a public forum like this, but it is necessary to understand that loving someone means caring enough to do what is extremely difficult to produce good character.
We almost always see discipline as a negative thing. It’s not! It is likely the best thing we can do to see growth and maturity! As has been mentioned in previous posts, . . .
Thoughts produce actions. Actions produce habits. Habits produce character.
If thoughts, actions and habits are not challenged for the better, and followed through on to see change, how much love are we really showing?
