Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

1 John 1:5-7 NLT
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Reflection . . .

What does it mean to live in the Light?

It means living in the forgiveness God offers us. Being forgiven means we have be cleansed from sin. When we are cleansed from sin, it changes us and we desire to live in fellowship with God. Living in fellowship with God means we desire to obey his commands, and live for his glory.

Christianity is the only religion, the only faith that has forgivenss at the core of its belief. Without forgiveness, we cannot walk in the Light of God. Without forgivenss, we cannot have true fellowship with each other and we cannot know the joy of being cleansed from our sin.

What Jesus did on the cross and the fact that he is risen and alive today offers us a life of forgiveness!
