Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Lamentations 3:19-24 NLT
The thought of my suffering and homelessness is bitter beyond words. I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Reflection . . .

Saturday, the day after the crucifixion of Jesus, the day before he rose from the dead. It must have been a very sad day for his family and disciples.

This passage expresses the experience of great loss and pain, yet the focus is on God’s great love and faithfulness! That was Jesus’ focus!

In the midst of pain, suffering, loss no matter how great or small it may be, placing our hope and faith in God’s love and faithfulness will always bring newness to experiencing His mercies afresh each day.

Pray these words of the Psalmist . . .

Psalm 31:1-5 NLT
[1] O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right.

[2] Turn your ear to listen to me; rescue me quickly. Be my rock of protection, a fortress where I will be safe.

[3] You are my rock and my fortress. For the honor of your name, lead me out of this danger.

[4] Pull me from the trap my enemies set for me, for I find protection in you alone.

[5] I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, LORD, for you are a faithful God.
