Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

John 13:34-35 NLT
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.

Reflection . . .

This New Command that Jesus gives his disciples is not a new command at all because the 10 Commandments outline the need for us to love God and our neighbour.

Jesus takes it even further! He is making the point that they need to Love one another in the same way He has love for them. How so? He gave his life for them and for us! That’s the kind of love Jesus is talking about!

Jesus is saying that the extent of our love for one another is proof of our love not only for each other but towards God and shows that we are truely His disciples! What a challenge for us all!

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
