Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

We reflect God’s work of grace to others.

2 Corinthians 3:4-6 NLT
We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.

Reflection . . .

A New Covenant in Christ, an incredible confidence in Him, and it’s nothing of our own doing! It’s all God’s grace working in and through us!

The Apostle Paul says here that his confidence and competence comes only from God. It doesn’t come from the “letter” of the law, the Law of Moses or teachings, traditions and trappings of the faith passed down through the centuries. His confidence comes from the “Spirit” that gives life. That is, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus Christ, the living God. This “ministry of the Spirit is quite different. It is a ministry of the new covenant under which sins are forgiven and remembered no more, and people are motivated and enabled by the Spirit to do what the improper application of the law could never achieve.”1 That means, through the work of the Holy Spirit in us, we not only partake in the work of God’s grace, but minister His grace to others.
