Reflecting on God’s Word . . .

Numbers 6:22-26 NLT
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing:

‘May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.’

Reflection . . .

Here we have what is called the Priestly Blessing of Aaron the High Priest. It’s a very popular and prayer and blessing especially for those who are to serve the Lord.

Blessing others is a great practice! Blessing someone with words like these is to ask the Lord’s favour on their lives for His glory! It’s to ask the Lord’s favour to protect, know His grace, and experience His peace. Why would we not want to pray that for people? Better yet, say it over them, pray this benediction, a blessing, a hope for God’s glory to be seen in and through their lives!!

We are not acustomed to this kind of practice in our western society, but it is something we need to learn to do and in so doing be a blessing to others!
